A Passion for the Art of Architecture

I have always had a passion for the art of architecture. From an early age, before I even knew what to call this art form, I was sketching, drafting, and constructing models of buildings. I would use Hot Wheels track, Girder & Panel, LEGOs—every toy at my disposal—to create entire cities. I wasn’t making objects. I was making places.  Places for make-believe occupants with whole life stories that my designs attempted to capture in architectural form.

My own life story as an architect has been an adventure. Like many of the architects I admire, I’ve been fortunate to experience the classic grand tour of Europe.  I’ve worked for inspirational firms such as Overland Partners, Lake | Flato, and BCV in San Francisco.  I served two years as the University Architect for St. Edward’s University and over five years as the City Architect for Austin, Texas.  I’ve been a partner in two architecture firms, and now I’m in my current adventure as a sole practitioner.
